The Marathon for Non-Public Education is our school's annual fall fundraiser, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the school! It will take place on Saturday, October 6th from 8:00am – 1:00pm at Central Park in Roseville. It's a fun event where King of Kings students and their families bike, walk or run around Bennett Lake in Central Park. Prior to the marathon, students are asked to get pledges from relatives, friends, neighbors, etc. for either a dollar amount per lap (e.g., $5/lap) or a total amount determined by the sponsor.
Our goal is to raise $20,000. If each student gets $150 or more in pledges, we'll easily achieve this goal! But to achieve this goal, we need EVERYONE to participate. If you have a conflict on the date of the marathon, no worries! You can still participate by doing laps or a service project on your own and getting pledges for that. We'd love to have 100% participation, even if you're not able to be at the marathon.
Please encourage your children to start getting pledges if they haven't already. Our marathon will only be as successful as our students' efforts to get pledges. Here are some ideas of potential sponsors: grandparents, aunts, uncles, godparents, neighbors, coaches, co-workers (you could leave the pledge sheet in your office's coffee/lunch area), fellow church members, Facebook friends, etc.
Kids are also invited to bring their pledge sheets to King of Kings this Sunday (Sept. 23) and next Sunday (Sept. 30) in between church services (9:30-10:00am); there will be a marathon table set up in the coffee/fellowship area where church members will be able to sponsor students.
Remind your kids that there will be prizes for:
the top fundraiser (prize = 2-hour party package at Urban Air Adventure Park in Coon Rapids for 10 kids) --- last year's winner raised $734!
the most sponsors (prize = 4 tickets to Stages Theatre production) --- last year's winner had 28 sponsors!
the most laps completed at the marathon (prize = Target gift card) --- last year's winner completed 17 laps!
classroom with the highest participation rate (prize = pizza lunch for the entire class) --- last year's winner was the 1st grade with 83% participation!
door prizes for participants at the marathon (including passes to Eagles Nest Indoor Playground, the MN Landscape Arboretum, 2 rounds of foot golf at Afton Alps Ski & Golf, 2-hour snow tubing passes at Elm Creek Winter Recreation Area and more!)
